My name is Terri Barnes and I live in Lexington KY on a horse farm with my husband and two kids. My love for Chihuahuas started with my son's desire to have a Chihuahua and name him Edward. Well we got Edward and all fell in love! Edward and Cooper
I then got another Chihuahua to call my own. This Chihuahua came with AKC papers and was related to some very nice dogs on his sire's side, which really did not matter to me at the time. I received Cooper and the more I played with him the more my mind worked. I thought well he is supposed to have this great pedigree so that means I can show him. Boy did I have a lot to learn! This is where I was lucky enough to meet some great people who have helped me along the way. One has become my mentor and one of my closest friends. She helped me find my first real show dog and then gave me the awesome compliment of using this same dog on one of her beautiful bitches and giving me a puppy. I also purchased a pup from her that is a gorgeous animal. Many people have told me that I am the luckiest newbie they have ever seen! I agree! I am very thankful. My mentor is Gloria Lambert of Tanya’s Toys. She has bred some beautiful Chihuahuas and has helped me learn so much. Gloria even helped me find my first show dog, a male, CH. Dartan’s Jaguar of Galway and told Sue Hanke that I would be a good home. I could not believe Sue sold me this wonderful dog and I will always be grateful to her. There is something special about a breeder who will sell the good show dogs. I believe that is what this sport is supposed to be about.... improving the breed. Gloria and Sue are two ladies who will do just that!
Terri Showing Jaguar At The CCA National Well when I was waiting for my puppy from the breeding of Jaguar to Jewel, I saw Gloria had a new litter of pups. I asked her if one of them would be right for me. First she told me I already had one coming but I just kept asking and asking and asking! I loved this particular pedigree and was anxious to have one of them. Gloria picked one out for me and the way she told me she was mine was to tell me her name was Faye Raye. That is such a special memory for me because Gloria knew that was the name I wanted for a bitch. Faye Raye and Bizy Lizy
Well Faye is very special in every way. So while Faye Raye and Bizy Lizy grew old enough to show I finished Jag's Championship. What a thrill it was one year from the time I started until I finished my first dog. I am in the process of showing Lizy and Faye and having a ball. Please feel free to contact me, I won’t have many puppies but I almost always know of a reputable breeder to contact for you. Please don’t be in too big a hurry and do your homework! These little dogs live a long time and deserve the best homes.
